Privacy Policy

PassportSnap — operated by Gold Coast Strategies LLC doing business as PassportSnap
Effective Date: April 9, 2026  |  Last Updated: April 9, 2026

Our core commitment: PassportSnap processes all photos entirely on your device. Your photos are never uploaded to our servers, transmitted over any network, or stored anywhere outside your device. We do not collect, access, or retain your images.

1. Introduction

Gold Coast Strategies LLC dba PassportSnap ("PassportSnap," "we," "us," or "our") operates the PassportSnap mobile application for iOS and the PassportSnap web application (collectively, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our Service.

By using PassportSnap, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with the practices described here, please do not use the Service.

2. Information We Do Not Collect

PassportSnap is designed with a privacy-first architecture. We want to be explicit about what we do not do:

3. Information We May Collect

At present, PassportSnap does not collect any personal information. However, this section describes categories of information we may collect in the future if we introduce analytics, crash reporting, or other features. We will update this Privacy Policy before any such collection begins.

3a. Automatically Collected Technical Data (Future)

If we introduce analytics or crash reporting in the future, we may collect limited, non-personal technical information such as device type and operating system version, app version, anonymous usage statistics (e.g., feature usage counts), and crash logs. Any such data would be collected in aggregate and would not be linked to your identity.

3b. Cookies and Similar Technologies (Web App)

The PassportSnap web application does not currently use cookies or tracking technologies. If we introduce cookies or analytics tools in the future (for example, to understand general usage patterns), we will update this policy and, where required by law, obtain your consent before placing non-essential cookies on your device.

4. On-Device Processing

PassportSnap's core functionality — including photo capture, face detection, cropping, resizing, and compliance checking — runs entirely on your device.

On iOS, the app uses Apple's ARKit and Vision frameworks. These are Apple-provided, on-device APIs that perform facial detection and image analysis locally. Apple does not receive your photos through these frameworks, and neither does PassportSnap. For the web application, all image processing is performed within your browser using client-side technologies. No image data is sent to any server.

This means your facial geometry is never transmitted over any network, there is no cloud storage of your images, and no data retention policy is needed for photos because we never possess them.

5. How We Use Information

Since we do not currently collect personal information, we have no data to use. If we begin collecting limited technical data in the future (as described in Section 3), it would be used solely to improve the Service's performance and stability, fix bugs and crashes, and understand general usage patterns in aggregate.

6. Data Sharing and Third Parties

We do not sell, rent, trade, or otherwise share any personal information with third parties. PassportSnap does not use analytics, tracking pixels, advertising SDKs, or cookies.

The iOS application uses Apple's ARKit and Vision frameworks, which are first-party Apple technologies that process data on-device. These frameworks do not transmit your data to Apple or any third party as part of PassportSnap's usage. For more information about Apple's privacy practices, please refer to Apple's Privacy Policy.

6a. External Resources (Web App)

The PassportSnap web application loads a small number of resources from third-party content delivery networks. These requests may expose your IP address and basic browser information to the hosting provider, but no personal data, photos, or tracking information is shared.

The web app also displays links to government websites for photo requirements by country. These external sites are only visited if you choose to click on them, and their own privacy policies apply.

If we introduce additional third-party services in the future (such as analytics providers or payment processors), we will update this Privacy Policy to identify those parties and explain what data they receive and why.

7. Data Security

Because your photos and personal data remain on your device and are never transmitted to us, the primary security responsibility rests with your device's own security features (device passcode, biometric lock, encryption). We encourage you to keep your device's operating system and the PassportSnap app up to date to benefit from the latest security protections.

8. Children's Privacy

PassportSnap is not directed at children under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Since the Service does not collect personal information from any user, no special mechanisms for parental consent are required. If you believe a child has somehow provided personal information to us, please contact us and we will take steps to investigate and address the concern.

9. Your Rights Under Applicable Laws

We respect your rights under applicable privacy laws, including the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA), Canada's PIPEDA, Brazil's LGPD, and similar laws in other jurisdictions. These laws generally provide you with rights such as accessing, correcting, deleting, and porting your personal data, as well as opting out of data sales or withdrawing consent.

Because PassportSnap does not currently collect any personal information, there is no personal data for us to provide, correct, or delete. We do not sell or share personal information. If our data practices change in the future, we will provide clear mechanisms for you to exercise your rights. For any privacy-related questions or requests, please contact us at the address in Section 12.

10. Biometric Data Disclosures

Certain jurisdictions, including Illinois (Biometric Information Privacy Act — BIPA), Texas, and Washington, have specific laws governing biometric data. We want to be clear about our practices:

PassportSnap uses facial detection solely to help you position your face within the photo frame and to verify that your photo meets official requirements. This processing is performed entirely on your device by Apple's ARKit and Vision frameworks (iOS) or by client-side code in your browser (web). We do not collect, capture, store, transmit, or receive any biometric identifiers or biometric information. No biometric data is sold, leased, or otherwise disclosed to any third party.

Because biometric processing is performed on-device and no biometric data is ever transmitted to or accessed by PassportSnap, no written consent for biometric data collection is required under BIPA or similar statutes. Nonetheless, by using the Service, you acknowledge that facial detection technology is used locally on your device for the purposes described above.

11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to the Service, our practices, or applicable law. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page and, where practicable, notify you through the Service (for example, via an in-app notice or a prominent notice on our website). We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
